Complifield turns public OSHA enforcement records into A–F safety grades — called Foremark Scores — so homeowners can vet contractors and general contractors can pre-qualify subcontractors. Grades come from enforcement data, not self-reporting.
A Foremark Score is an A–F grade computed from a contractor’s public U.S. OSHA enforcement record. It is the same grade shown on search cards and reports.
It is not a star rating, a customer review, or a popularity score. It is not a certification — Complifield verifies public records; it does not certify, endorse, or license anyone. It is not a consumer report, a background check, or a substitute for your own due diligence. Complifield is not a consumer reporting agency.

A willful citation locks the grade at C or below, regardless of other factor scores. That cap cannot be overridden. The full factor definitions are on methodology and how we grade.

Most contractors in the United States have never been inspected by federal OSHA. Complifield grades contractors who appear in public federal enforcement records in the states we currently cover — not every licensed contractor, and not every company that does construction work.
If a search returns nothing, that usually means there is no matching federal inspection record in those states. It can also mean the name does not match the legal name on the federal file, or that we have not ingested that state yet.
Absence of a record is not a clean bill of health. It is not a passing grade. It is not evidence that the contractor has no safety problems. It means the federal enforcement file we use does not contain a match. Do your own due diligence — licenses, insurance, references — the same way you would if Complifield did not exist.

Complifield currently grades contractors in the states below. This list is the same source the search bar uses. It is not a national roster — states are added as we ingest and grade them. We plan to cover all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

A missing result or no grade means we do not have a matching federal enforcement record to grade — most often because the contractor has never been federally inspected in a covered state. That is a gap. It is not an A, and it is not a pass.
A low grade (D or F, and often C) means there is a federal record, and the record scored poorly. That is a finding in the public file, not a missing file. Read the report before you hire.
We refresh grades as new OSHA enforcement records become available. OSHA publishes on its own schedule. The most recent inspection or citation may take time to appear. We do not claim a fixed daily or weekly cadence.

Grades reflect public OSHA enforcement records, matched to contractors on a best-effort basis. Records can contain errors, and name matches are not perfect.
